It is with great regret that I must face the fact that I will no longer be able to continue my non-profit parrot rescue, The Wing Foundation.

Although there is still a huge need for the rescue and rehoming of these amazing creatures, I have made it a point to take on all the expenses myself, including assisting in vet fees, providing cages, bird food, etc. for all my adopted parrots and their new owners.

I have never sold any of my rescued parrots.

Unfortunately, I have not received any funding or donations over the years to offset my expenses, and rather than change my core belief that a rescued parrot's priority should be a great home and not their perceived monetary worth, I would rather discontinue my efforts altogether.

This has never been about money for me - rather, it is my passionate love of parrots and my heartbreak at seeing so many of them in sad, captive lives that they did not ask for that has motivated me to try and make a difference.

I hope one day to continue my efforts in another venue, but for now, I simply cannot afford to do this one anymore. In the end, in spite of all my efforts, sadly, it really is about the money.

And that is the greatest tragedy of all.
